The C4416 Optical Smoke Detector uses an infrared light source and a photodiode to detect smoke. Light passes in front of the photodiode in a straight line in the absence of smoke. When smoke enters the optical chamber across the path of the infrared beam, light is scattered by particles of smoke in all directions, some of which fall on the photodiode, thus triggering the alarm. Optical detectors are typically used in escape routes, living areas, bedrooms and enclosed spaces to give an early indication of fire. They are particularly effective at detecting slow-burning fires (such as those caused by overheated electrical wiring or smouldering materials), which tend to generate larger particles of visible smoke.

Content | ActiV Conventional Optical Smoke DetectorThe C4416 Optical Smoke Detector uses an infrared light source and a photodiode to detect smoke. | The Fyreye MkII optical smoke detectors use a pulsing IR LED & photodiode to detect IR scatter caused by smoke entering the chamber. The detector is particularly suitable for detecting optically dense smoke involving materials such as soft furnishings, PVC, plastic, foam and all similar materials which produce small visible particles (0.5 to 10μm).. The Fyreye fixed heat detector MKII-HF/CS90 gives an alarm above 86°C. | Hispec Battery Operated Smoke Detector with 10 Year Lithium BatteryThe HSA/BP/10 from Hispec is a standalone battery-operated smoke alarm with a sealed 10-year lithium battery. | Fyreye MKII Conventional Fixed Heat DetectorThe Fyreye MKII fixed heat detector (MKII-HF) has a single thermistor arrangement that gives an alarm at a temperature of 90°C. The detector will work with most modern fire alarm control panels, and comes supplied with a locking grub screw to prevent unauthorised head removal. Each Fyreye detector requires a base | Fyreye MKII Conventional RoR & Fixed Heat DetectorThe Fyreye MKII Rate of Rise heat detectors (MKII-HR) uses a thermistor arrangement to sense a quick rise in temperature and a final threshold temperature of 57°C. The detector will work with most modern fire alarm control panels and comes supplied with a locking grub screw to prevent unauthorised head removal. Each Fyreye detector requires a base. | Hispec Battery Operated Smoke DetectorThe HSA/BP from Hispec is a standalone battery-operated smoke alarm. |
